One not so obvious issue is getting dressed and what to wear.
Due to the stiffness in our limbs, limited mobility, pain and the lack of the ability to stand, getting dressed and undressed can be a tiring and frustrating process!
And then you have the added issue of trying to buy clothes that will be easy to use.
Lots of us living with a disability choose to by clothes that pull on or pull over so there is a limited need for zips, buttons and laces. This often means that the choice of suitable garments is quite limited and not occasion appropriate.
Primark have just launched a new range of Women and Men’s Adaptive Clothing. This range is not only aimed at wheelchair and walking aid users but also for those who have a stoma or permanent catheter.
Several other companies also offer a range of adapted baby and children’s clothes plus ranges that are more suitable for people who are Neurodivergent, who may have a sensitivity to certain fabrics and fastenings.
The mainstream promotion of the Primark “Adaptive” range, prompted us to look at what else is on the market.
We hope you find this useful…
Primark
The Able Label
Adaptive Clothing UK
Tommy Hilfiger - Adaptive Essentials
Able 2 Wear
These are just a few examples. Simply search for “Adaptive Clothing”.
